Toronto Police charge Vaughan woman in online-dating fraud incident – yorkregion.com


The Toronto Police have arrested a 24-year-old woman from Vaughan in connection to a fraud investigation involving two people who met on an online-dating site.
According to police, between the months of February and March, a 60-year-old woman met a person on an online-dating site who claimed to be a wealthy architect living in Toronto.
The online dating relationship continued through emails, text messages and phone calls, police said.
The wealthy architect living in Toronto was fabricated and the woman was allegedly defrauded of over $291,000, confirmed police.
The 24-year-old Vaughan suspect, Kaosiso Exibe, was arrested and charged with fraud, laundering proceeds of crime, two counts of possession of proceeds of crime, and two counts of possession of proceeds of crime.
She was scheduled to appear in court July 26, in Toronto.
Toronto Police said they believe there may more victims in this ongoing investigation and remind the public of the dangers of meeting unknown people in person after speaking online.
